Madelyn's Story

On September 7, 2010 my husband and I welcomed a beautiful little girl into our loving arms.  Madelyn Elizabeth was delivered at 19.4 weeks. She weighed 5.6 ounces and was 6 inches long. Meeting her was amazing and saying goodbye to her was the hardest thing that I have ever done.

Madelyn's life and her death have had a profound impact on my life. The days and months following her death have carried with it unspeakable pain intermingled with joy and peace. I am ever so grateful for a Heavenly Father whose love, mercy and comfort has sustained me in my darkest hours.

Although Madelyn's life may have been short and limited to her time in my womb, the impact of her life has been great. I am honored to have been chosen to be her mother. She has taught me more than I could have ever taught her.

I am comforted that Madelyn is now in Heaven, in the presence of her Creator. She knows no pain or sorrow. In fact, the only thing she has ever known is the peace, love and joy that comes from God. She joins two siblings in Heaven: Shannen Lee (7 weeks) and Tobias Lee (6 weeks). All who are deeply loved and missed. Thankfully, goodbyes are only temporary and I look forward to meeting each of them one day. Until then, it is my prayer that I will continue to serve, honor and love the God who has given me much more than I deserve.
